The pipe organ at Second Presbyterian Church has four manuals, and 44 ranks of pipes totaling 2,524 pipes.
The Second Presbyterian Church Quartet is a group of professional singers who lead us in song and provide inspirational music throughout the liturgical year. Our quartet is companied by our music director and dedicated church organist on the four manual Austin pipe organ.
It is a long-standing tradition at Second Presbyterian Church to annually perform Théodore Dubois' “Seven Last Words of Christ” on Good Friday.
The church has purchased a vintage 1929 Austin Organ, Opus 1515, from St. Luke's Missionary Baptist Church right here in Chicago (formerly Eighteenth Church of Christ Scientist), and has signed a contract with the Austin Organ Company of Hartford, Connecticut to restore and reconfigure the organ for Second Presbyterian Church.
